the Cuttlebug Spot Challenge -Winter Theme

Do I love a challenge with the Cricut or Cuttlebug.... you bet! Do you?

I found another fabulous blog "the Cuttlebug Spot" Nelda who is the blog owner also has another blog called "the Gypsy Spot".... hmmmm if only I had a Gypsy, oh well I do love what I have.

The challenge this week is a winter theme, here is the card I submitted.
All supplies are from Stampin' Up! (except for the jewel). I love the embossing folders for the cuttlebug, each time is emboss something it I'm just in awe. I used the "snowflakes" Cuttlebug embossing folder on silver cardstock... just stunning all by it's self.
For the snowflake I used the Cuttlebug combo "ice crystals" to cut out and emboss the snowflake on shimmery white cardstock, then added a lovely silver jewel. I used a metal hardware label with white organdy ribbon threaded through the two end holes. The words have been printed using my printer then cut down to fit behind the label.
This card is a simpler version of the above card, some times when your making one card, you might as well make two.
Hope you have a wonderfully creative day!

My first "Bitten by the bug" Contest

Ok I'll admit it... I've been "Bitten by the bug" .....the Cuttlebug.

I came across "Bitten by the Bug" website the other day such talented designers and wonderful ideas. Every Monday a contest is held so today I decided to join in on the fun.
This is the contest rules for this week...
MAKE A BIRTHDAY CARD with RED and GREEN as the primary colors of the card....
YOU NEED TO USE AT least one cricut cut from ANY of the cartridges of your choice.

When I went to submit my project I realized that I got carried away with creating, because I made a 3-D project instead of a card.... so I made a matching card and submitted it to the contest. Silly me!
Red & Green B-day card

my oops... Red & Green B-day gift
I had another Provo Craft band-aid tin laying around for this cute project, for all the paper and ribbon I used Stampin' Up! I used to be a SU! demonstrator for 10 years, so I have lots of paper and supplies.

When I create 3-D projects my favorite adhesive is Sticky Tape I buy it here Jody is so wonderful. I use this tape because when putting boxes or other 3-D projects together the tape sticks and keeps my paper where I put it, when I've tried other tapes or glue the box comes undone. Has this ever happened to you?

A Child's Year Cricut cartridge was used to make the cute little girls from pages 35 and60 in the handbook. The oval and tags were cut from George and Basic Shapes page 114 for the oval and pg 102 for the tag.
The writing on the tag was done with my printer, I have a tutorial of how to add text to a cutout here.
I used sticky tape again for adhering the ribbon around the rim and handle (I used about 1" strips at a time around the handle because you have to loop it through several times). Once the sticky tape was on the tin I added the ribbon.

Pattered paper size 1"x3" are wrapped around the chocolate nuggets. I fit a dozen nuggets into the tin.
Have a wonderfully creative day!

Just Buggin' Challenge 13

Just buggin challenge #13 Sew it!
This weeks challenge was to use sewing, faux sewing, or sewing stamps on your project!

I chose to use my sewing machine, I love to sew on paper.

Sew It

I cut the oval out using "George and Basic Shapes" cartridge, then carefully cut it down on each side eyeballing the distance from the edge.

I used "A Child's Year" Cricut cartridge page 58
I used a brown ink pad to rub over the stitching and on the edges of each layer before assembling the card. I love popping up the images, I used pop-dots.

Just Buggin' has weekly challenges to inspire us to use our Cricut machines, come join the fun!

Nuggets & Card Box

I love 3x3" cards, just the the perfect size to send a quick note to someone.
You all know how I love 3-D projects right.... I found this neat pattern to create "Giant Nugget Boxes" on Inking Idhao blogspot.

Giant Nugget Card Box
Below is a photo of the pieces I used in this project.
Using "Joys of the Season" Cricut cartridge pg. 62 "ornament" I cut out the Christmas bulbs at 2", then cut a shadow from pg.79 "shadow" 2".
Card is cut 6" x 3" scored at 3"
Pattern paper is cut 2 7/8"
Before I glued the bulbs, I cut off the top loop of the bulb with scissors).
Next step adhering pattern paper and ribbon to card, then using pop-dots I added the bulb with a loop of gold cording at the top.
I Wrapped 3 chocolate nuggets with pattern paper then using Becky's pattern made the adorable box. Wrapped gold cording around the box. So adorable, makes a wonderful gift.

I have designed a really cute box to share with you all, another simple pattern that if fun for all occasions.

This file is available for download and is offered to you for free, I hope you enjoy it. And I would love to see what you create with this pattern.

Scallop Box Tall

Such a fun box to make, I used "Christmas Cheer" Cricut cartridge (love that little penguin!)
The snow is whit cardstock that has been torn in a long strip and wrapped around the box. To give texture I used the Cuttlebug embossing folder "swiss dots" on the trees, star and the penguin's hat. A white ink pad was brushed lightly over the box and trees. A white gel pen added the eyes to the penguin.

If you have any questions let me know.

Oval Purse .SVG Download

Hi everyone I'm excited to share with you the SVG file that I designed, this oval purse is such a fun and easy project. You can add yummy treats, a note pad or other little gifts... oh the possibilities are endless.

Here is a little info:
This .SVG file is to be used with your "Sure Cuts A Lot" (SCAL) software.
What is SCAL??
Software that lets you cut thousands of free fonts, dingbats, unlimited shapes and your own designs on any Cricut Create, Personal Cutter or Expression without the need of additional cartridges.
Where can you get it?
There are several sites on line that sell the software, I would suggest you google "Sure Cuts A Lot" and choose what site is best for you. If you have any questions I'll be glad to answer and if I don't know I'll do my best to find out.

*Believe me, I still wont stop buying cartridges :)
Here are the two "Oval Purses" that I created. I would "LOVE" to see what you create!!

download no longer available
Please let me know how you like it, or if you have any questions post them here.

Wild Card #5

I'm adding to my "Wild Card Series"

Wild Card #5
A fun idea is to cut the same image the same size on two different papers, take out the center of one then add the opposite paper as shown on the envelope above using triangle shape.

Just Buggin' Challenge

Hi everyone, I've joined a challenge today from the "Just Buggin" website. http://justbugginchallenges.blogspot.com/

The challenge that I joined is....
Challenge #10: Just Bling It!!

For my project I used a Band-aid tin from Provo Craft, and chose a winter theme, with fun note cards to add inside.

I used the "Joys of the Season" Cricut cartridge, I love this cartridge for the holidays, there are so many great images.
I used clear embossing to the blue skate then added lots of glitter for a fabulous bling, the bow and skate blade also have clear embossing powder and are layered over the ice skate. Snowflakes on the note cards are layered with blue and silver cardstock.

If you have any questions just let me know.

I designed My first SVG cut file -an Oval Purse

I've designed my first SVG file an "Oval Purse" cut file.
Actually I've created a few really fun patterns when I designed for a printable paper craft and clipart site. I just need to adjust and convert them to .svg files.
The leaf image and tag are from the "Storybook cartridge". Then used "Swiss Dots" Cuttlebug embossing folder on the leaves. "Happy fall" is printed from my computer.
What do you think of my Oval Purse pattern, would you be interested in the .svg file? Let me know and I'll see what I can do.

Handwriting on the wall --Vinal Decor

Hi,
I'm so excited to share this wall decor with you. This is in my daughters bedroom, and the really cool thing about this font is you wont be able to find it anywhere because it is in my daughters handwriting, cool huh!
She wanted her own hand writings on the wall so we figured out a way to do it.

above her curtains
next to her bed (it really is on a slant)
"I go to my island of dreams"

on her mirror
If you are familiar with using Sure Cuts A Lot (SCAL) then you'll understand how I did this.
We used black vinyl to cut out the words with my Cricut Expressions.
This is how the process went...
I had my daughter write on a blank piece of paper the words she wanted. I then scanned the paper with my scanner. In Photoshop CS2 I made sure the complete image was solid black, saved it as a .jpg file (I'm sure you can use any photo editing program).
Then I opened the image in Inkscape and made it into an SVG file. Open the .svg file in SCAL, sized how she wanted it, then cut.

If you have any questions please let me know.

Have a wonderfully creative day!

Wild Card Series Continues...

Hi friends,
I've been having fun creating cards from the "Wild Card" Cricut cartridge, I hope you are enjoying the wild card series.
I always cut my envelope first at the larges setting possible using my Cricut Expressions machine and 12x12 cardstock, then cut the other pieces at the same size.

Wild Card #3 -2 cards
Everything was cut at 4 1/4"

Wild Card #4

Everything cut at 5 1/2" except the birds. I cut them at 4" I used a white pen for the eyes.
One other change I made was cutting 1/4" off each side of the rectangle "icon" so it did not take up the whole card front.

Remember if you have any questions or comments let me know.

Have a wonderful creative day!
Robin :)
