I'm so excited to share my next "Cardabilities Sketch" #2.

My card is a 6" x 6", it was fun to do a square card, not my usual style but I really liked making it.
The pattern cardstock is from DCWV Pockets full of Posies Stack. I used my new "Heritage" Cricut cartridge to cut out the bike pg 63 at 2" and the word Journey pg. 71 at 1 1/4". The fun shape behind the bike is from Accent Essentials Cricut cartridge pg. 79 cut the shape twice 3" for the patterned cardstock and 3 1/2" for the dark purple cardstock.

Here is the sketch, I flipped this design upside down for my card.

For the word I cut it twice then carefully cut the green flourish off and added on top of the purple flourish.

Special Delivery Little Brag Book

Another great digi stamp from Doodle Palace. This weeks image is a very sweet giraffe delivering a baby at the front gate.
I made a little brag book for a mom to write her thoughts and add photos of before delivery and after.I printed my image on patterned paper, then colored using Copic markers. I made the front and back covers using cereal boxes, then covered with the pattern paper. (I knew I should have taken photos of how I made it, I will next time).
This book measures approx. 4" x 5 1/2". I used my "Bind-It-All" for the binding, then tied ribbon and added a few fun charms.

Bridal Shower -Towel Cake

It's that time of year when there are many baby showers and bridal showers to attend, so I like to think of creative gifts to give.
I showed my diaper cake HERE with lots of photos and directions.

Today I'll show my towel cake using a dish towel set with cooking utensils and kitchen gadgets, items that the bride will soon need.

I used two sets of kitchen towels bought from Walmart, one had a hot pad, oven mit, dish rag and 4 matching dish towels, the second set was just a tan and white towel set ($5 each).
The oven mit and hot pad are rolled up in the bottom layer to give it thickness, the dish rag is the very top layer. I used safety pins to keep the towels rolled together.

The ribbon was hot glued to itself on the back side, then I carefully added the utensils and kitchen gadgets.

For the diaper cake I had twill (netting/fabric) to wrap around the cake. I didn't have any matching twill or fabric for this cake, so I had to get creative.... this is what I did.

I cut strips of cardstock, got it wet then wadded each strip up, carefully un-wadded the strips then let them dry. When they were dry they looked like a wrinkled mess, but this is what I used around each layer of the towel cake, tucking ends into the towel and wrapping around the utensils.

The flowers are made just as I did on the diaper cake using "Walk in my Garden" Cricut cartridge, except I used two layers here instead of three, and hot glued a rope knot in the center instead of a jewel (view the diaper cake to see how I made the flowers).
I used glue dots to adhere each flower to my wadded wrinkled paper strips, I didn't need to make stems like on the diaper cake flowers.

I used cardboard for the base covered with tinfoil.

Forever Young Tiny Purse

This is a super adorable purse, and just the right size for a few little nugget treats.

I used DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies cardstock stack along with the DCWV Glitter stack, and the "Forever Young" Cricut cartridge. The purse die is on page 71, I cut it using the "fit to page" feature the purse was cut at 4". The flower is from the same page cut at 2 1/2" then cut the "Layers" the same size (not using real dial size, makes the smaller flowers fit perfectly on top of the larger flower)

To wrap the nuggets cut strips of paper using your paper trimmer 1/2" x 3" makes for the perfect fit around a Hershey's nugget.

My mom loves humming birds. Each summer when we go to visit we sit on the back porch and hope we get to spot one of the busy lovely birds as it comes to drink the sweet red sugar water, even if we view it for only a few seconds, it's worth the wait.
I thought this bird from the "Home Accents" cartridge looked like a humming bird with it's long beak, so I used this image to make her a special purse box with matching 3"x 3" note cards.

I cut the scallop frame from the "Mini Monograms" cartridge on pg. 129 of the booklet. I used the center point feature, cut a 2 1/4" circle, when the blade was finished cutting it returns exactly back to the center of the scallop, without moving the blade, I then cut another scallop at 2 1/2" to make the wonderful scallop frame that I used behind the bird. For the scallop frame for the box I made it just a little larger.

Hello Tulips

A lovely card using "Walk in my Garden" my favorite spring Cricut cartridge. The image is on page 99 in the booklet. I used the border feature cutting at 4". The tulips were cut in yellow cardstock twice, one set covered the green tulips cut with the border, the the second set I popped up using pop-dots.

The paper is from DCWV Blossoms & Butterflies stack, and DCWV glitter stack, I love these papers! I use the multi-cut feature when cutting these papers with my Cricut machine, they cut beautifully. Cricut cartridges used are "Walk in my Garden" for the card and "Wild Card" for the envelope

Cardabilities Sketch #1

A few weeks a go I announced that I was chosen as a member of the "Cardabilities" design team. And today I finally get to share with you my first sketch card! So much fun, here is my card!!

Here is the sketch we were give to design from, a fabulous sketch. Karan, creator of Cardabilites, designs the most amazing sketches, I just love her designs, I can't wait to show you sketch #2 -reveal date will be April 30th for that sketch.
I'm learning to use copic markers, in fact, I'm currently taking and "online" copic class from Colleen Schaan at My Creative Classroom.

I used a free digital stamp from Pink Petticoat, I love Liz's cute whimsical designs, you can find the flower vase -here.


I used George and Basic Shapes to cut the circle and scalloped circle. The little daisy print paper was from DCWV Blossoms and Butterflies stack.

A Boy and His Dog

A boy and his dog.... just perfect together. But sometimes we need a dog just so we can go for a walk.

Chibi Dino Boy

Just look at this cute little boy all dressed up in in dino costume, simply adorable.
This is one of the two new digital images at Doodle Palace.

I printed the image then used copic markers to color. I think the deckle cut edges gives very rugged dinosaur type feel.

Spring Flower

I love spring, don't you? Even though Easter is over for this year, we can still continue to create using the Easter 2010 Cricut Cartridge just as I have here....


I used DCWV Glitter cardstock Stack. When I cut glitter paper I always cut it using the "multi-cut" feature and it cuts beautifully (speed 3, pressure 6, blade 6). I cut the flower at 4 1/4" in three different color cardstock, green, blue and yellow, then cut off the stem of the blue cardstock, the stem and flower of the yellow, and layered them all together. I cut out the shadow in a cream cardstock (not glitter).
The word "Spring" was cut at 1 1/2", I cut off the flower that was attached to the word, because I didn't want to use it this time. The shadow was cut using blue glitter cardstock.

The polka-dot paper is from DCVW Blossoms & Butterflies cardstock stack.
