A Splash of Color -Fantabulous Cricut Challenge

School is back in session here and my youngest daughter is already busy with homework and studying for tests, that's high school for ya. Then my two older daughters will be heading off to collage soon for the first time, so many wonderful experiences await them. Life is really changing for me and my husband with the girls getting older, but it's a good thing! "To everything there is a season" Ecclesiastes 3:1

Today is a great day and a new challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog
the challenge "A Splash of Color"
use the color "YELLOW" on your project
I decided to make a "back to school" card for my daughter and let her know that I'm excited for her new school year and all the things that she will learn, and also to let her know that I love her and that I'm always here for her and so glad to be her "taxi" since she is involved with extra-curricular activities.

Here is my card with all the details below...

I used the Cricut cartridge "Locker talk" for all the images, this is actually a fun shaped card, not a true rectangle because I used the "Notepaper" image (pg. 65 of the handbook) welding two together for the card. I used a gel pen to trace the only the lines on the notepaper using my cricut. If you would like more information about using gel pens with your cricut, I have a post on my blog giving more details and photos of how I use the "Mini Gel Pens" with the ciricut machine -HERE.
The notepaper was cut at 4.57" wide x 5" high (measurements from my gypsy). The pencil pg. 37 of the handbook, was cut at 4.03" wide x 1/75" high, and the phrase "back to school" pg. 35 cut at 2.37" wide x 3" high.
I also inked all the edged of each image using Tim Holtz distress ink "antique linen".

For more great "Splash of Color" projects from the talented Fantabulous Cricut design team head over to FCCB to be "inspired", and feel free to join in on this weeks challenge to "use "yellow" on a project" then you will be inspiring us! The challenge is -HERE.

Hip, HIPPO HOORAY! Fantabulous Cricut Challenge

Happy wonderful Monday! Monday's are exciting because it is the day for a new challenge over at Fantabulous Cricut Challenge Blog, and this week it's a Party, or at least a "Birthday Bash" ;)

the Challenge "Birthday Bash"
Create a birthday project

Someone is always celebrating a birthday, so creating a birthday card was what I had in mind for this challenge, and I couldn't resist using the "Birthday Bash" cartridge. I've had it for some time now and thought it would be prefect to brake out again. As I was thumbing through the handbook I wanted to use adorable hippo holding his yummy ice cream cone.

I use my Gypsy to create all my projects, but always keep the handbooks close by so I can get a better overview of each cartridge. Love my Handbooks!
My card size is 5 1/2" x 4 1/4". From the Birthday Bash cartridge, I cut the hippo out at 4" high, and all the layers in the correct proportion. Then the phrase I did stretch just a bit to make it wider cutting it at 2.8" wide x 3" tall.
More details:
I used the Martha Stewart edge punch "daisy" for the border behind the hippo, then use the "mesh" cuttlebug folder for the ice cream cone, I also added double stick foam tape to pop the cone off the card.

All the edges were sponged using the Tim Holtz ink "vintage photo". Then after all the pieces were adhered to the card I used "glossy accents" on the cherry and the phrase "hip, HIPPO HOORAY... oh so cute!
Now continue this party and head over to FCCB and see what "birthday bash" project the design team has created for this weeks challenge, I know you will get loads of inspiration over at Fantabulous Cricut -HERE, then join us in this weeks "Birthday Bash" challenge.

Blog Make-Over

It's finally happened!

My blog got it's make-over. I've only been working on the details for several months now (do to lack of time), after getting all the details just how I like it, I'm really pleased about how it turned out. There may need to be a bit more tweaking here and there but no worries, it came together great!

To design my blog I purchased a Scrapbook Kit titled "Ties That Bind" created by Rachel. The shop that I purchased this kit from doesn't carry it any more, but I did happen to find Rachel's blog in case you want to take a look at more of her work -HERE.
And for the bird and bird cage, it was a freebie I found by googling "digital bird cage". This is made by Shery K Designs, you can find it -HERE she also has some really cute digital artwork.

I've also been working on a few orders from my new Etsy shop and getting that going. Woo Hoo to my first two orders, I'm so thrilled others like my work, it gives me warm fuzzies inside. :)
I try to add new items to the shop every few days, and I have some really exciting designs in the works that will be showing up in the shop very soon, an interchangeable seasonal set and a really cute baby announcement block. I would love for you to come take a look.
