Tips And Tricks From Robin #1

Some secrets need to be shared.
This secret tip I use when cutting my images for my cards or scrapbook pages.

Note: when I cut my images for my Wild Card Series, I do not use the "real dial size" feature, so I often don't know exactly what size of an item that I want. Therefore, I do "test drives" with my cricut.

I use plain white computer paper, I set my blade at 3 and speed usually at med or high, it doesn't need to be a great cut because I just want to see the size that the image will be.
For example the cut below I cut two frames, the top at 7" the bottom at 5".
I liked the size of the 7" frame for my card front, so once I knew the size I wanted then I put my pattern paper on my cutting mat and cut it at 7". Using this method lets me use more of my pattern paper for other projects.

I love birdies and this card was of course fun to make! Wild Card #16 can be found on page 47 of the Wild Card booklet.


The images circled in red are what I cut for this card. I did cut them in various sizes.

I cut all the main images at 5" the envelope, card, liner and the birds on the branch (shift/frame).
The phrase "you made my day" was cut at 6". The frame using the pattern paper is cut at 7", and the blue frame cut at 7 1/4".
The icon birdies were cut at different sizes... the two tall green birds (shift/icon) were cut at 3"
The two shorter red birds (icon) cut at 3" and the short blue bird cut at 2 1/2".
The white piece of cardstock was cut using my paper trimmer to be placed on the inside of the card, this was cut at 4 1/2" x 4 3/4".

I used the bird branch (shift/frame) on the inside of my card.

Wild Card Series -Card #15 Cha-Ching

This is a great card to add a gift card or good old fashioned cash -Cha-Ching.
Wild Card #15 is found on page 46 of the wild card booklet.

I've circled in red which images I cut and how many of each for this "cha-ching" card.

The photo below shows the cut images, each were cut at 6" except for the $ dollar sign, I cut them at 3" each. The frames were cut using two different colors of paper, as were the dollar sign images.
I used the Cricut Design Studio to weld the word "cha-ching". The font was from the Wild Card Cartridge... same as the images.
I do have a cut file for the expressins and baby bug machines, however I did use George and Basic Shapes to make the dash line between the words (I couldn't find an image or letter on Wild Card that I could size down small enough for the dash... thus, why I used the George cartridge).

I over lapped the words with the brown cardstock on top, then over lapped the $ with the green color cardstock on the top.
I couldn't help myself and just had to add some "bling" I used 2 different Stickles glue, Star Dust on the word, and diamond on the $.
You may have noticed that the double sided paper I used for the envelope in above photo is showing the plain side, that is the "inside" of the envelop, the outside is really cool looking (you'll see what I mean by looking at the finished card photos).
I also added Stickles glue to the swirl on the envelope.

Just Buggin' Challenge #19

Just Buggin' has a great challenge this week, it's titled -Stamping Fun
The challenge is to stamp on you Cricut die-cuts

I have a super fun 3-D project this week using Tags, Bags, Boxes & More Cricut cartridge.
I had my daughter pull out her stamp sets so I could stamp on my project, I found an cute flower stamp set from Stampin' Up that I stamped all over my box.

I chose the flower box on page 120, perfect with flower stamps, don't you think?
I cut the box using the blackout feature so there were no windows or ribbon holes. I also used the "fit to page" button on my Cricut expression machine so I could get the largest possible cut on a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock, which cut at 8 3/4".
After I cut the image I stamped all over the box with flowers and leaves.
I also stamped a larger flower for a gift tag
The square box is aproximatly 2 1/2" high (not including the flower on top).
